The BC and Yukon Community Newspapers Association is a consortium of 122 local papers from across the province. Each year, the achievements of member papers are honoured in 44 separate categories at the Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards Gala. Curve was brought in to “re-invent” the annual event, which had been experiencing a steady decrease in attendance and sponsorship revenue.

Result:

Curve’s involvement has led to enormous growth in all areas of the event over the past five years. With increased award submissions year-after-year, the 2011 awards event saw member participation reach a record-breaking 80 per cent. Attendance has increased by 35 per cent, and the Association has also experienced a 40 per cent rise in sponsorship dollars. Each year, the numbers continue to grow as the Ma Murrays become progressively more coveted among members. The Gala’s reputation has made it one of the highlights of the year for the BCYCNA and industry associates.
